When I make an RSS feed of my full text, I simply print my full text into the “description” section. That includes the HTML for my images etc. But those never seem to appear in my reader.

Yet, there are image feeds that seem to work. Why is that?

Well, in Sage, the image feeds aren’t using the html “img” tag, they’re using the RSS 2.0 “enclosure” tag, like this:

<enclosure url="http://www.flickr.com/photos/468511_40327755@N00_m.jpg" length="9416" type="image/jpeg" />

So how do some readers show the full html? Ahh.. I recalled that some readers actually advertise the fact that they can do inline images, and they just happen to require things like GTKHtml.

So, the drawback is that Sage and Thunderbird don’t render the HTML in the RSS feed. Maybe they don’t have a good html renderer.
