I don’t watch a lot of TV, and what I do watch is usually something my wife wants to watch. Recently we tried out some stuff we’ve never seen, with mixed results.

First we tried JAG. I just have to say wow. I didn’t think it was possible for a show started in the mid-90’s and continuing to the 21st century to so utterly encapsulate the glorious schlock of the 80’s. That isn’t to say I didn’t enjoy it. It was fun, in the same way that The A Team and Knight Rider were fun. I’ll probably watch it just about as often.

Next came Navy NCIS. This one is pretty good. It’s similar to CSI, but with a little less science, and a lot more military culture. Having grown up around the military it was cool.

Lastly is Joan of Arcadia. This one’s interesting because of the fact that God visits her in the form of random people. He asks her to do seemingly odd stuff and it all turns out in the end. It’s not overtly theological, but if you look for it, the theology is throughout.

So, the summary is one freak show, and two moderately interesting shows. There still isn’t a show on TV today that I make time for.

  1. I’ve started watching ‘Smallville.’ You know, Superman as a little kid back home with the rents.

The first season’s on DVD, and that’s how I’m catching up with it. It seems to be taking over the reins from Buffy as far as teen-angst-mixed-with-the-supernatural shows go. Some pretty interesting stuff.

  2. i’ve caught about 5 episodes or so of Joan of Arcadia and i must say that i’ve been pleasantly surprised. like you said, it’s not overly theological but if you look for it, it’s there.

it’s one of the few shows that i like anymore…along with west wing and scrubs. 🙂

  3. I rather like JAG, although I don’t make time for it specifically anymore (just watch it if it’s an episode I haven’t seen and/or if it’s on when nothing else conflicts). I’m suprised you thought it was that bad – but each to their own 🙂

I do watch CSI, Navy NCIS, and Threat Matrix when I can – I enjoy all those shows.

I am a fan of Stargate SG-1. Why? Cause I thoroughly enjoy watching Richard Dean Anderson (aka MacGuyver) – I love his sense of humor!

Lastly, one of my current favorite shows is Sue Thomas – F.B.Eye (which cooly enough is a GCI Alliance Ministry) – if you haven’t seen this show, you should watch it IMO.
