When I was very young, too young really, my mom subscribed me to the Weekly Reader Book Club. Some of my favorite books of all time came from that club.
Secret Of The Old Post Box was one of them. I did a review of it some years ago.
This is the book that taught me about Ottendorf Cyphers, also know as book cyphers. I went on to make my own out of my blog one time.
When my youngest was 8 or 9 I started reading books aloud to her, and recording them. I used my old phone, and the quality wasn’t great. I intended to edit them, and strip out the talking around the reading, but now 15 years later I love hearing her tiny voice ask questions, so I’ve left it raw.
