A few months ago my wife and I were driving home, and were quite near our house when we stopped at a light.  As always when I stop at a light, I started looking around, and noticed a piece of cardboard ripped into a square shape and stapled to the pole at the corner.

The words on it were scrawled in black marker, and said this:

"Art photos of your wife or girlfriend".

There was a phone number under it.  I sat stunned for a few moments, and then looked at my wife.  She was looking at me with a stunned expression on her face, and I knew she’d read it too.

On the one hand, I think "Who in the world would EVER even CONSIDER something like that?".  On the other hand, I’ve been on the internet long enough to know that there are lots of people.  I just assumed they were just saying that to attract the freaks.  But there’s a guy somewhere near me who takes those "art" photos apparently.

Yuck.

  1. As someone who used to take photos (but generally not “art” photos) for a living, the idea of the photos itself doesn’t bother me too much. I could talk more about how/why/when it might be okay, but the more important part is this… who lets a stranger photograph their sweetie, especially when that stranger takes advertising design tips from the will-work-for-food cadre.
