Ok, so this one time, this really big comet came and hit Jupiter really hard. We got great footage of it, and it was really cool.

Then there was this other time that we’re pretty sure an asteroid hit near the Tunguska river in Siberia. No-one’s SURE what happened, but they’re PRETTY sure.

Now, at long last, there’s a chance for us to see something similar in scope to the Tunguska event on someone else’s planet. Right now there’s a 1-in-25 chance of an asteroid hitting Mars on 30 Jan 2008. That’s only 4 percent, but it was 1-in-75 just 2 weeks ago. If it hits, we’ll get to see a massive hit on terrain similar to ours.

I’m really looking forward to that.

    (Actually, I guess they aren’t in a whole lot of danger, but still)
