Bill Melendez died this past Tuesday. For those unfamiliar with him, he was the voice of Snoopy in every Peanuts film ever. He was also the ONLY person to every animate the peanuts, from the very first Ford commercial in 1959 all the way through all the TV specials and the MetLife commercials that are still on. Every show, every frame, always.

He also worked for Disney in the early days, and worked on “Pinocchio” and “Fantasia.” Later he worked for Warner Bros. and worked on Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig and Daffy Duck shorts. And Garfield, and Cathy, and “The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe”.

He was amazingly talented and accomplished, but I’ll miss the voice of Snoopy the most.

  1. Yes, Snoopy’s a gem. You know, Lori, your Mom and I all had nick names from The Peanuts cartoon. Your mother was Freida and I, of course, was Lucy.

Such talent from Mr. Melendez. May God raise someone as gifted to fill in for awhile.

Sometimes I ask your dad to talk like Donald Duck~~something from our growing up years. It always gives me a lift.

    Blessings,
