Tonight I start teaching my Intro To Linux class. I’m sitting here burning Breezy Badger to a cd, and thinking about all the things I’m excited to tell these kids. Some aren’t all that happy to be there, but it’s such a FUN subject that I hope they get into the swing of things.
It’s an intro class, so we’re going to do cover lots of things gently. They’ll get to see several different distro installs, command line stuff, X, Gnome, KDE, Enlightenment, XFCE, Fluxbox, Open Office, GIMP, and all kinds of other stuff.
The cd’s done, I’m off to see the wizard!

How could they not be happy to be there?
I wish I was. I have been giving myself my own intro to Linux for the last couple of years.
Well, okay, I had one or two ‘nix classes at CC, and worked had a nix box with multiverse at my last job, but they don’t even compare to modern linux.
Why oh why can’t you move to Canada??? Man, maybe I should move to the U.S. Topher, can you find me a job?
That sounds like a blast. Why must all the spiffy stuff come to CU now that I have ridden off into the sunset?
Speaking of Linux, I am setting up a server at home with a spare machine. (I was installing XP, but I was irked to the point of no return) What are you running these days? Fedora and Fluxbox?

Because they hate you. 🙂

Fedora and Enlightenment. Fluxbox was only for about a year while E was getting its act together. E totally rocks.
I really enjoyed your linux class. If you teach it again, I will consider taking it for real.
You taught GPG, and I had never understood that before, but you also showed banshee, and other apps.
Too bad all the distro’s did not install correctly, but I have that same thing at home. I have 3 pc’s. and often times one distro will work smoothly, and another not at all.
I was re-interested in FC4, and tried to reload it, and it failed (at the last few minutes). Re-installed VectorLinux and Fluxbox, and I am back up and running.
