My Mom’s been in rehab for just over a week now. She’s doing both physical and occupational therapy. I’ve learned that occupational therapy deals primarily with the fine motor skills of the hands. Tying shoes, using a fork, etc. Physical tends to deal with walking and waving at people etc.
It’s coming along slowly. My sisters visit quite often, and she talks and laughs and does a decent job with conversations.
She can’t walk or even stand yet though, and that’s a concern. If she can’t at least stand on her own, my Dad can’t care for her. He can’t pick her up, even a little bit, and if she can’t help him by standing, she can’t come home. We expect to know by Thanksgiving if she’ll be able to come home or have to go to a nursing home.
Please pray that she’ll recover enough to come home.
