I can’t believe I forgot to post this last summer. In August the girls did VBS at church, and Cate and I went and worked there. Sophi has a favorite book called Word Bird, and she asked to bring it. We told her no, it’s not exactly the kind of place for reading, and it might get lost or damaged etc.

She asked if she could make her own book and take that, and we said sure. Several hours later she came down with a small book about 3 inches square, made from notebook paper.

It was Word Bird. She’d made a complete copy of the book. Molly helped with some of the bigger words, but then Sophi even illustrated it like the book.

It’s about what you’d expect from a 5 year old, with big scrawling letters and 5-year-old illustration, but I’m impressed with her dedication and inspiration.
