For those who don’t read Slashdot (enough), the BBC has announced that they’re going to release their audio and video archive online, free for everyone, as the BBC Creative Archive. That’s awesome. I’m VERY surprised. It sort of feels like a significant point in human history. Television and radio have been around a long time, […]
A woman was assigned to photograph mule wranglers in the Grand Canyon. She asked around and found just the right guy to take pictures of, a guy from Montana. He was a little tense in front of the camera, so she started asking him questions to draw him out. “What do you do here?” she […]
So, today I saw something cool on TV, and started telling Alan about it. By the time I got to the end, I realized it was an excellent blog post. I’ve noticed that in other situations as well. I’ll start to tell someone about something cool, and realize that I’ve been talking a long time. […]

Anyone ever listened to Peter, Paul, and Mommy? Culture is good. While the girls were away, Cate and I went to the Binder Park Zoo on the 10th. That’s a COOL zoo. It’s in Battle Creek, and costs $8.50 per adult. Why is it cool? Because it’s a walk in the woods. The cheetahs and […]
I’ve always loved the 4th of July. As a kid we would always get the mail-order fireworks catalog, and look in the back to see what was legal in MI, and bemoan the fact that nothing cool was legal. So we ordered ground flowers, and smoke bombs, and fountains, and various other things. And then […]
That’s the name of the one of the sets of rapids we went on last week. It was a LOT of fun. I don’t have pics yet, I didn’t take my good digital camera on the river. In the meantime, for those with broadband, you can see the video here. Franklin picked the music, not […]
