I noted on /. that there’s an origami convention going on in Tokyo this weekend. There were some links, so I decided to see how far it’s come in the last few centuries.
This dragon has to be the coolest piece I’ve ever seen. Just rockin’.
Additionally, the website of Joseph Wu displays not only his own artwork, but that of others as well. The penguin at the right is his work.
When I was in the 2nd grade, a man came to teach us how to do it, and of course we all made the swan that everyone makes when they’re learning. It was a lot of fun, but I never really took it any farther. My wife’s family hosted a Japanese girl as a foreign exchange student once, and my brother-in-law learned a bunch. I should see what he can do.
On an unrelated note, Sophi can’t say “penguin”. She calls them “poing-poing”s 🙂
